Prepare your headset for the call

A USB headset is connected. You are joining a Teams class from a quiet room. Use the headset to hear and speak, and begin muted while the instructor is talking.

Change choices to compare results, then check the requirements.

  • Hear through the USB headset
  • Use the headset microphone
  • Enter without interrupting

Take a moment to check what the meeting will hear and show.

  1. Open the meeting link you expected. In Teams, choose Computer audio and use Audio settings on the pre-join screen to check Speaker and Microphone.
  2. Select your connected headset or the devices you intend to use. Check the camera preview and your surroundings.
  3. Join muted if someone is already speaking. Unmute for your turn, then mute again if your room is noisy.

Headset and camera names depend on the device. Different meeting apps label these controls differently. Use only one active microphone/speaker setup in the same room to avoid echo.
