Remove an unused trial app

Your personal PC has a Photo Editor Trial you no longer use. Your pictures are already backed up. Remove that app; keep Photos and your picture files.

Lesson notes

Manage the app itself without confusing it with a shortcut or a document.

  1. For a file that opens in the wrong app, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps. Search its ending, such as .pdf, then choose an installed app you want to use.
  2. To remove an app, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Check its name, then choose More > Uninstall.
  3. Save projects and protect any app-specific data before confirming removal.

Deleting an app’s desktop shortcut usually does not uninstall it. Some built-in apps cannot be removed, and some programs have separate uninstall instructions.
