Match

Write acceptance criteria for a PC procurement request

A client asks for a PC that is fast, handles presentations and calls, and protects project work. Convert four requests into measurable acceptance tests so the quote can be evaluated against the work the PC must do.

Lesson notes

Define workload, reliability, noise, budget, and upgrade needs before choosing parts.

Needs that change hardware

Gaming resolution, video editing format, virtual machines, classroom reliability, small-desk size, quiet operation, Wi-Fi needs, storage growth, and warranty expectations all influence the build.

  • Ask what the user does every week, not only what they hope to do one day.
  • Separate must-have requirements from nice-to-have preferences.
  • Document assumptions so future support has context.

Budget as a design constraint

A budget does not mean choosing the cheapest version of every part. It means spending where the user will feel it and protecting support parts that keep the machine stable.
